Youth

The young people of our area are very important to the Partnership and we have been supportive of work that benefits them in all walks of life, not just at Youth Clubs. We enjoy a good relationship with the schools and College and the staff who work with them. We have members on the Partnership Steering Group who are also School Governors. We have encouraged pupils at Lakers School to complete questionnaires to give us ideas of what they want to see for the future.

We also obtained funding to carry out a Feasibility Study for a concrete “bowl” style Skateboard Park on a site near to the town. Unfortunately public feeling regarding the site caused that idea to be shelved. However the money has not been entirely wasted as the same principles can be applied to another site when that can be negotiated and the funding found to build the facility.

It is important that our young people are not isolated from the rest of the community, making them feel much more a part of it instead. We shall be seeking ways to do this in the future.
